About
I research, curate, write, and advise.
I have several years of experience working at prominent art institutions, see: projects.
I am committed to developing exhibitions and programs that critically reflect on societal issues while simultaneously providing space for new artistic voices.
I particularly enjoy working through transdisciplinary forms of collaboration—such as co-creation between the workforce, local communities, makers, and academics—as a means of approaching complex issues.
I am always seeking connections between the experiential and knowledge worlds of these different target groups. Consequently, my perspective is not solely art-historical in nature, but focuses on the interplay and tangible relationships between people, culture, and nature.
Specializations
Trained as an art historian and curator at the University of Amsterdam, I have an academic background in late modern and contemporary art.
My recent curatorial practice relates to decolonising Dutch art collections and deconstructing historical propaganda and nationalism.
My recent research focuses on art practice in the context of the mediatization of war and violence, testimonial practice, and collective amnesia—particularly in relation to West Asia (Iraq), Indonesia, and the Caribbean. I have a strong affinity for alternative and subversive archives.
I specialise both technically and art-historically in lens-based art, such as analogue and digital photography and film, and time-based media art: art objects with a durational element, such as light projection, net.art, installation art, and performance.
